Green Schools Committee
Here at St. Vincent de Paul Junior School, we have an active Green Schools Committee. Our Green Schools Committee is made up of student reps from each class.
We were awarded our first Green Schools Flag for Litter & Waste in June 2025. This flag is a reflection of the positive changes we’ve made in how we care for our environment — from reducing waste to promoting recycling in our school.
We are now working on attaining our second flag. We are promoting Water Conservation awareness in our school and homes.
Green Schools Action Plan
Our Water Action Plan:
- We will raise awareness about water conservation.
- We will turn off taps when finished with them.
- Teachers will place ‘Turn It Off’ signs over the taps.
- Each class will have a water monitor in to make sure taps are turned off.
- If you hear or see water running, turn off the taps.
- Staff will rinse cups and dishes to help reduce use of dishwasher.
- The Parents Association will run a poster competition.
- The Committee will share examples of how to conserve water at home (via the school website).
- The Committee will keep our Green Schools notice board and school website updated.
